Six Flags Arabia Saudi (rumor para 2020-2021)

Fortune escribió:
U.S. theme park company Six Flags Entertainment Corp plans to expand to Saudi Arabia, its chief executive told Saudi-owned Arabiya TV on Monday, bringing roller coasters and bumper cars to the ultra-conservative kingdom.

The National escribió:
US theme parks operator Six Flags has denied reports that it is planning to open a resort in Saudi Arabia.

The company had been reported to be investigating a potential partnership in the kingdom after a meeting between senior executives and Prince Mohamed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s deputy crown prince.

A Six Flags spokesman said that it was not planning a park in the country, citing a GCC-wide exclusivity deal with Dubai Parks and Resorts.

We’re very honored to be provided with an opportunity to enter into a partnership to bring Six Flags to the kingdom … Our parks can provide the entertainment to which Saudis aspire

Después llegaron planes de SF.

Arabian Business escribió:
Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has exempted Saudi Arabia from a GCC theme park deal, allowing the Gulf kingdom [Saudi Arabia] to pursue plans with US operator Six Flags.

Aawsat escribió:
Mr. Khatib added that Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s visit to the U.S. had resulted in the signing of major entertainment companies, such as ‘Six Flags.’

The projects signed with the American Six Flags include creating a number of theme parks across the Kingdom.
“We are honored to have this opportunity to bring Six Flags to Saudi Arabia,” said John Duffey, President and CEO of Six Flags.

“We look forward to supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand tourism by creating new world-class entertainment destinations in the Kingdom.”

Y finalmente, Six Flags espera abrir el parque para 2020-2021:

Six Flags Entertainment plans to open its first theme park in Saudi Arabia in 2020 or 2021, and its expansion into the kingdom could extend to three attractions, Reuters reported.

“The parks are likely to be government-owned, although that’s not guaranteed yet, because talks are still early and there can be changes,” Jim Reid-Anderson, executive chairman of the US theme park company, is reported as saying.

The parks each cost between $300 and $500 million to build, Reid-Anderson reportedly said on the sidelines of the MiSK Forum in Riyadh.

The first park is tentatively planned for Riyadh, while others may follow in Jeddah and another site on the Red Sea coast.

Dubai Parks and Resorts holds exclusive rights to develop and operate Six Flags-branded theme parks in GCC, but granted Saudi Arabia a waiver for the development of attractions there.

News of the plans emerged in June, when Six Flags said it plans to expand into Saudi Arabia.

At present, it is unclear whether the development of a Saudi theme park will see a change in the rides, which include water slides, so as to adhere to the social codes of the conservative country.

Six Flags operates 20 or more theme and water parks in North America. It earlier signed an agreement with a private Ho Chi Minh City based company to develop two water parks in Vietnam.

Movie World Germany).

:hola

Theme park criticized over frozen fish in rink to close at end of 2017

National Dec. 17, 2016 FUKUOKA

An amusement park in southwestern Japan that sparked a flood of criticism for using thousands of frozen fish in an ice rink said Friday it will be closing at the end of 2017.

Space World in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, closed the skating rink last month after people complained about its attraction in which around 5,000 fish purchased from a market were embedded in the ice to give the impression of skating on the sea. An online rumor at the time claimed the fish had been frozen alive.

The theme park, which opened in April 1990 on an unused lot of the Yawata steelworks, did not specify the reason for the closure.

It had 2.16 million visitors at its peak in fiscal 1997, but the number of visitors has dwindled recently.

“We will be closing on the last day of December 2017 for various reasons,” the park said on its website. “We thank you for your patronage for such a long time.”

Space World informed the Kitakyushu city government of its closure plan on Thursday, municipal officials said.

The city held talks the same day with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp., the landowner of the facility, about future plans for the 240,000-square-meter site.

Nippon Steel promised to seek a tenant for the land taking the promotion of the local economy into consideration, the officials said.

Both Kitakyushu Mayor Kenji Kitahashi and Fukuoka Gov. Hiroshi Ogawa expressed concern about the closure’s effect on the local economy.

Space World “has led the tourism industry as a symbol of the city,” Kitahashi said in a statement. “It is truly regrettable,” he said.

Resort operator Kamori Kanko Co. based in Sapporo, northern Japan, has been running the theme park.

A subsidiary of then Nippon Steel Corp. filed for court protection from creditors in May 2005 and handed over the management rights of the park to Kamori Kanko in July that year.
